-NO CENTER MONDAY February 16, 2009

-Speaker Series at Center- In preparation for the upcoming spring break for some of our college mentors, we are once again in need of speakers at center. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer as a speaker at center, please follow-up by e-mail and I will connect you with the necessary individual.

-Social Gathering- On Friday February 20th, the Ward 6 community is having a social gathering at Armand’s Pizzeria from 6-8 pm. Armand’s is located at 226 Massachusetts Ave., NE, Washington DC. Come join us for some after-work fun. I encourage all mentors who can make it to come out and enjoy spending some down time with our great community. In addition, the career fair committee will spend time planning and preparing for our upcoming career fair. I hope to see you all there.

-Regional Literary Love Poetry Competition- Higher Achievement’s Regional Literary Love Poetry Event will be held at the Gala Theater at Tivoli Square: 3333 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC
from 7:00 – 8:00 pm with a reception to follow. Please come out and support all of our great poets.

-Session Feedback Forms- Mentors, please be sure to complete your session feedback forms within 24 hours of your mentoring session. This feedback is a crucial piece of communication and a necessary component of your mentoring experience. If you are experiencing difficulty or have questions, please feel free to e-mail me.

Scholar Report Cards- Mentors, a large percentage of scholar report cards can now be accessed via a binder located on the mentor table. Please take a moment to review your scholars' grades if you have not done so already. The binder should be completely up to date by the end of next week.

  1. I'd like to give a shout out to Mr. Sam. Center ran smoothly on Thursday. In addition, your concern for our 8th grade scholars' report card grades prompted us (8th grade mentors) to conference with scholars and set goals.

    Big Up, Mr. Sam!
