Ambassador Competition- This week marks the beginning of our yearly Ambassador competition. Each Higher Achievement Center has an Ambassador that represents them at internal events, andexternal organizations. Please encourage your scholars to complete an entry form for this unique leadership opportunity. Each applicant will also need a recommendation from at least one of their mentors so be prepared to have scholars ask you for recommendations over the coming weeks.
Vote for Higher Achievement- The Washington City Paper is running their annual “Best of DC” poll, and one of the voting options is “Best Place to Volunteer.” We all know that Higher Achievement has the best volunteers in the city, and hopefully is also the best place to volunteer! Please consider filling out this survey and voting for Higher Achievement! http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/bestofpoll/

Black History Month Challenge- Thank you to Ms. Nicole and Ms. Yasmeen for coming up with information for our 1st Black History Month Challenge. Thursday mentors, get ready to participate. I have uploaded and attached the notes to the blog sidebar. All mentors are welcome to attend and participate in the challenge. Let’s earn some Obama Chips.
Comment Sheets- Our completion rate has gone up dramatically this week; great job. Please complete your comment sheets within 24 hrs of your mentoring session. The information is vital to tracking our scholars’ progress and your feedback is extremely useful in meeting our scholars’ needs. As promised, I have uploaded the list of missing comment sheets to our blog on the sidebar. If your name is on this sheet please complete and submit your comment sheet ASAP.
House keeping- Community Meeting and Gathering Time are great culture building opportunities at Center. Please respect this time by modeling how to be an active listener and spirited participant in the circle. It is everyone’s job to uphold the culture that we continually work hard to create. Please be mindful of this and excuse yourself if you have emergencies that take you away from the circle.
