Week in Review:
What a magical week! If you got to join us this past Wednesday at the Kennedy Center, you would agree: Jerome and Noelle stole the show. I think I saw a tear in a few mentors’ eyes when Jerome spoke about his brother. Thank you for the constant support of our scholars, for without you, moments like that would not be possible. They are yet another prime example that opportunities matter and that talent is everywhere.
Announcements:
Sub mentors are needed on March 15th, 16th, and 19th. GW will be on spring break, so we need a few extra mentors each night. Let me know if you want to come any extra night that week.
Security update: Please remember to bring your name tags home with you and wear them to Center.
Mentor Observations: We will be conducting mentor observations for the next few weeks. If you know that you would like to be observed, please let me know. Also, if you would like us to look at any particular part of your lesson, please let me know in advance. The schedule for our observations is attached.
Center Closed: Center will be closed on March 1st. DCPS is conducting parent teach conferences all day.
Shout outs:
Mentor of the Week: Mr. Sean Is a Tuesday night mentor for 6th grade literature. He clearly takes the time to prepare his lesson in advance, his scholars are engaged and excited about learning, and he pushes them above and beyond. Thank you for mentoring at Ward 6!
Additionally, I’d like to give a warm welcome to our new mentors, Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Cassie! We are very excited to have you at Center.
Shout out to Ms. LaTia for working really hard with her scholars and for showing spectacular improvement in mentoring! You scholars seemed to be focused, on-task, and really enjoying the learning process.
Shout out to Mr. Robert for your respect, not only for your scholars but also for Higher Achievement overall. You clearly prepared your lesson in advance, bringing in premade flash cards and everything! Your efforts paid off, for you scholars were engaged and excited about your lesson.
