Announcements for the Week of April 27-May 1, 2009

-Thank you from Ms. Chrissie- Mr. Sam, Mr. Matt, and fellow mentors - Thank you so much for the little "shower" Monday night. The books, snacks, and party were absolutely unnecessary, but very much appreciated. I hope you all took it in the spirit Mr. Sam proposed re: celebrating all of us as a community. I've had a great experience with you all, and I'll miss you next year! Thanks, again! – Chrissie.

-(Tuesday Mentors) Career Fair logistics- This coming Tuesday we will have our 1st ever Career Fair at Ward 6 during our Afterschool Academy. Early Monday morning I’ll be sending out more details on the mentor assignments for the Career Fair. You will find that you have been assigned to host a presenter, be the adult leader in a group, or assist with transitions. I understand that some mentors might really want to be with their individual scholars as well and will not assign you if that is your preference. Your flexibility and support will be crucial in making this event a successful one. Please let me know if you have any questions before or after receiving information. Thanks everyone for all of your assistance thus far.

-Mentor Surveys-Mentors: please make sure you return your surveys this week if you did not complete them at center. Let’s get all of those surveys turned in this week. Lastly, don’t forget your free 5$ Starbucks card for turning in your survey.

-Confirm your Spot- Please remember to confirm your spot for the 2009-2010 school year by logging into your HA account on ISIS and clicking “Confirm my Spot.”

-Upcoming dates:

-The Ambassador Competition kicked off in grand fashion on Thursday April 23rd. Candidates will be giving speeches on two more occasions; April 27th and April 30th before participating in the open forum on May 5th. Continue to participate and make your voices heard as mentors by voting at Center. Thank you to everyone for a great kick-off.

-End of the year Celebration- mentors, please come out and celebrate our year. The Ward 6 community has earned the right to celebrate together all of our accomplishments. Please join us on May 7, 2009 to connect with each other and celebrate all that we have done.
