You are keeping Martin Luther King’s dream alive. You are enriching our scholars’ lives, through the dedication to academic excellence and inspiration to reach their goals. You are developing their character and guiding them to a brighter future.

Announcements:

Next week is Mentor Appreciation Week:

Thank you for being a fantastic MENTOR!

Mentors are invited to read poems:
I am inviting all mentors to read your favorite poem or an original poem during the Literary Love Poem Contest at Center. If you wish to read a poem please email me with the name of the poem by next Tuesday (1/26/09).

ISIS Feedback:
Mentors please remember to fill out your mentor feedback on ISIS. This is a very important part of our program, as it directly affects scholar outcomes.

Shout outs:

Mentor of the Week: Shout out to Ms. Amy! Ms. Amy runs a productive and focused mentoring session; she offers advice to other mentors and incorporates AYD into her mentoring. She does a good job of meeting the needs of scholars. Congratulations and thank you for mentoring at Ward 6!

Welcome new mentors: Mr. David & Mr. Richard! We are so excited that you are mentoring with us on Thursday!

Shout out to Mr. Scott for Academic Excellence for helping his scholars write terrific poems! I was truly impressed to see the literary devices scholars were using in mentoring!

Shout out to Ms. Shayarah for respect. You have not only graciously added scholars to your group, but you really took the time to get to know your scholars. I am always impressed to see how much your scholars open up to you, and are engaged in lessons.
